General Eligibility Requirements

  • For internships up to 90 days, applicants can use a Travel Visa.
  • Internships longer than 90 days require an Unpaid Volunteer or Internship Visa.
  • All applicants must have a passport valid for at least 6 more months from the date of entry.

Visa Application Process

  • Travel Visa: Submit an application form, passport photocopies, two passport photos, a criminal record from the last 6 months, return flight ticket, and proof of financial sufficiency.
  • Unpaid Volunteer or Internship Visa: Similar application requirements but tailored for longer stays. Must enter Costa Rica within 60 days after visa issuance.

Visa Costs and Duration

  • Costs vary based on visa type; please consult the Costa Rican embassy or consulate for specific fees.
  • Travel Visa allows a stay for up to 90 days.
  • Unpaid Volunteer or Internship Visa is for durations longer than 90 days.
