Visa information

General Eligibility Requirements

  • The Social Visit Pass (SVP) commonly used for internships is intended for students currently enrolled at a university.
  • It allows a short-term stay, often up to around 90 days, with the exact period depending on nationality and immigration rules.

Visa Application Process

  • Applications are normally arranged before travel together with the Malaysian host company or institution, with the visit pass endorsed on arrival.
  • Because requirements can change, applicants must follow the latest guidance from the Immigration Department of Malaysia and their local Malaysian Embassy or Consulate.

Visa Costs and Duration

  • Duration: Usually up to 90 days; longer stays may require a different pass approved by Malaysian immigration.
  • Costs: Visa and processing fees vary by country, so applicants should confirm current amounts with their nearest Malaysian Embassy or Consulate.

Specific Requirements for Applicants

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a university and provide documents requested by immigration and the embassy, such as an application form, valid passport, host-company or institution letter, proof of funds, police clearance where required, and a return or onward ticket.

Visa Restrictions

  • The SVP is for social, educational, and training visits and does not authorise full, regular paid employment in Malaysia.

AIP Assistance

  • Atlas Internships can outline typical visa options and help coordinate supporting documents, while all approvals and conditions are determined solely by Malaysian immigration authorities.
